This week Joe and I had the great pleasure of seeing our dear friend Luanne - Dr. Luanne Freer of Everest Base Camp Clinic at Cornell in NYC where she spoke at a fundraiser for Everest ER 2007.
The following day Luanne was able to come out to spend a day with us in Montclair where she was able to see Tara Luanne just be herself! The day was spent catching up and while Tara Lu took her afternoon nap we went into town for coffee and desert(thank you Auntie Maria for watching Tara for us!) Once Tara was up, we took a great hike in Mills Reservation where Joe led us on a trail he typically mountain bikes. After taking a few photos on the summit, where we had a beautiful clear view of Manhattan, we headed home for dinner after which we walked Luanne to the train back to NYC.
We hope to see Luanne in Montana early in 2007 before she heads out to Nepal for another season of selfless, incredibly priceless work at the foot of Mount Everest where she will continue to save lives. All climbers and especially Sherpa people are incredibly fortunate to have Dr. Freer and her Staff there.
Please help support her efforts as without Dr. Freer, her staff and the Sherpa who helped Joe in 2004, Tara Luanne would not have her beloved Daddy. Joe came very close to losing his life on the mountain that year See Luanne's dispatch here She worked tirelessly all night long to keep him alive till the Sherpa were able to carry him to Gorak Shep for a helicopter evacuation to Kathmandu. This is what Luanne does for anyone in need of medical help at Everest Base Camp.
